Jasmine Phyllis is an Accounting Professional who has built a career of over 15 years in the accounting realm. Her experience includes US & Canada Sales & use tax preparation, Individual & Business tax returns, System creation, Data analysis, Budget forecasting, and Revenue forecasting.
Here is a deeper look into her timeline:
At 16 years old Jasmine began volunteering to prepare Individual tax returns for low-income communities through Volunteer Income Tax Association (VITA).
In 2013, she began gaining experience in Sales & Use Tax by filing for small businesses in Louisiana on the state and local level.
In 2014, her Bachelor's of Science degree was obtained from her HBCU Southern University and A&M College. Upon graduation she worked as a Lead Tax Professional where she deepened her skill sets in individual and business tax preparation.
In 2015, she was awarded an offer to work as an SAP Consultant in the Finance Department of IBM. Here she gained comprehensive knowledge in Business Planning & Consolidation where she helped create systems that consolidated company's financial statements. She participated in project projection meetings and assisted with recommendations for corrective action plans when contracted to work at Align Technology.
In 2016, she gained experience as a Budget Accountant where she customized graphs and charts from the staff efficiency reports to budget cost and forecast revenue through MS Office systems.
She designed payroll and billing systems for bi-weekly processing, and she was able to slash administrative fees and overhead cost by 30% by recommending lower cost
solution.
In 2017, she branched out to Dallas, Texas for larger opportunities and landed a contract position with Ernst & Young Accounting Firm. This experience helped her become a specialist in Sales & Use Tax Compliance (SUT). As a SUT Compliance Officer she was able to gain deeper knowledge in ERP systems, Vertex, and in multinational sales & use tax returns.
In 2019, she began her journey to a master's degree in accounting with a concentration in taxation & entrepreneurship. While in school she was granted another opportunity for a Sales & Use Tax Compliance Officer with the oil and gas company NOV Inc. and relocated to Houston, Texas
Upon completion of the contract with NOV she received yet another opportunity as a SUT Compliance Officer with Caterpillar. Then, in 2021 she graduated with her MBA degree from Colorado Technical University.
She now uses all of her experiences to help corporations create a sales & use tax system that will keep them compliant and sustain records for audit purposes. Saving them time and money.
She aspires to help business owners build on methods, compliance, increase, and excellence.
